About Check Algarve

Check Algarve is a property intelligence platform built for English-speaking buyers considering property in Portugal's Algarve region.

Portuguese property data is scattered across more than 20 government portals, most of which are only available in Portuguese. Planning zones sit on one system, environmental constraints on another, fire risk data on a third, and rental licence records on yet another. Navigating these systems requires specialist knowledge and fluent Portuguese.

We built Check Algarve to solve this problem. Our platform aggregates official government data into a single, English-language map interface. We cover fire risk, flood zones, coastal erosion, environmental constraints, planning data, rental licence density, bathing water quality, seismic risk, market statistics, schools, airport access and property tax rates: all sourced from official Portuguese and EU public authorities.

What we are not

Check Algarve is a data platform, not a legal or financial advisory service. We present official public data in an accessible format. We do not provide legal advice, property valuations or investment recommendations. Always consult qualified local professionals before making property decisions.

Data sources

All data displayed on Check Algarve comes from official government and EU sources. We update our datasets on regular schedules: rental licence data weekly, market statistics monthly, and environmental data annually. Our data accuracy page explains our methodology in detail.
